the artist

**Welcome!!!** I’m an artist and art educator that wishes to share my creative life through this site/blog. For a while I have used social media to share my artwork, but now I am focusing my content on my own blog and site for a more organized approach. On my blog I’ll share projects, lessons, and artworks.

Here is a little about me. As an artist I work with a variety of materials and media. I don’t want to limit my creativity to one disciple and I’m inspired by physical materials so I consider myself to be a mixed-media artist. Often, I create drawings and installations that are so intertwined and that is is hard to know what inspires what or what came first, the drawing or sculpture.

Art is important in my life, as is nature and being outside. When I go through my photo albums I am continuously surprised how many take place outside verses indoors. This draw to nature and the outdoors has seeped its way into my art. Plant and organic forms naturally emerge from my intuitive mark making drawings as a uniting structure and element.

Currently, I’m working on collage pieces with many layers. They are dense and complex. I see parallels to nature within these pieces as well as to the complexity of modern life with so many projects, activities, tasks, social media posts, news articles, and more our brain navigates daily. Below are newer pieces and some are still not totally complete.

For more updates on my artwork I invite you to follow by blog and site. Life can be crazy, but my goal is to post information for projects to do with your family or kids, upcoming art shows, and updates on my artwork/projects. I think this is a great way to keep in touch with all of my art students from different schools. Please, follow me so you don’t miss a post!
